CHASING LIGHTS
September  21 - November 4, 2017
Opening Thursday, September 21, 19:00 pm
Galleria Giovanni Bonelli Milan , IT.

Galleria Giovanni Bonelli  is pleased to inaugurate the exhibition season with the second personal exhibition by artist Giuseppe Gonella at their location.
The exhibition will include fifteen works permeating a suspended atmosphere, typical of the artist's work, who explains: "I am interested in the moment, where everything is still possible. Where even the smallest space can become fertile ground at the epiphany of an event or state of suffering, or literally before destruction."
The canvases presented are "unresolved allegories in motion", they are explorations that Gonella accomplishes, with color and his quick and determined brushstrokes, within that imaginary space created by memories, illusions, personal suggestions, but also sudden insights.
In the "Under the Skin of the Sea" series, there is a perception of diving (or baptism), a plunging immersion and whirlwinds that envelop the viewer. Water is the protagonist as a symbol of potential evolution, an element that brings "new life" and opens up new perspectives.
The man is the leading character, portrayed as a human being who may be in the position to choose how to deal with the present, with memories, emotions and, above all, choose what elements to "preserve", or which to abandon within a personal path created by experience and dreams.
Under this perspective, Gonella's paintings are offered to the public as an opportunity, as an invitation to identify with each piece according to every individual's personal and unique characteristics.

Nella serie “Under the skin of the sea” si intuiscono tuffi (o battesimi), immersioni e vortici bianchi che avvolgono la visione.
